„Wir melden uns innerhalb der nächsten 48 Stunden zurück“ - diese Antwort erhielten wir auf die ein oder andere Bewerbung, die wir seit Hope verschickt haben. Wir mussten lernen, dass das her bedeutet „innerhalb der nächsten 4-8 Tage“. Da waren wir für einige Jobs schon wieder über alle Berge, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes.
Teilweise haben wir auch abgesagt und uns anschließend gefragt, ob wir zu wählerisch sind oder gut daran tun, auf unseren Bauch zu hören? Das Thema Jobsuche beschäftigte uns schon seit Hope.
Work & Travel – im Travel-Teil waren wir schnell wieder angekommen, dazu haben wir aber auch ein paar Dollar in Yeti gesteckt. Doch wie Andy, Francesco und Ulli die ganze Zeit gesagt hatten,
war unsere Sorge unbegründet, wenn wir erst im Norden sind ….
Gestern sind wir nahe Carcross in die Caribou Crossing Trading Post gestolpert und haben gefragt, ob sie Hilfe brauchen. Heute sind wir in die Mitarbeiterunterkunft eingezogen und am Abend haben
uns unsere neuen Kollegen auf die erste kleine Einstandswanderung zum Bennett Lake geführt. Alle hier freuen sich, dass wir da sind. Nach einigen anderen Bewerbungsgesprächen hatten wir nirgends
das Gefühl so willkommen zu sein. Es war wohl gut, auf den Bauch zu hören (und auf Andy, Francesco, Ulli und die Leute in Watson Lake).

„We're getting back to you within the next 48 hours“ we were told after a few job applications. We found out, that it could also mean, „within the next 4-8 days“. But then we'd been „over all mountains“, as a german saying goes, meaning over the rockies and travelling on. Other jobs we turned down because we had not the best feeling about it. Not without doubting, are we too picky or is it okay to go by heart and not by brain. So we were hoping to find work since Hope.
Work & travel, you know. We got back into the travel part of it pretty quickly, but not without spending some dollars on Yeti, our 4wd van. So the work part of it was to be worried about then. According to Andy, Francesco and Ulli there was nothing to worry about, once we'd be in the North ...
So yesterday we stumbled in the Caribou Crossing Trading Post asking for work. Today after we moved in the staff residence, the crew took us on a breathtaking initial hike to Bennett Lake. Everybody is so welcoming here. No doubt it was the right decision to listen to our heart (and to what Andy, Francesco and Ulli as well as the people in Watson Lake, especially in the Outreach Center).
